Getting Started

Three steps:

  • Fill in the job details — the customer's name, address, what you found on site, and your price.
  • Claude writes the proposal — our AI turns your notes into a professional, personalized proposal. You review it before it goes anywhere.
  • Send it — your customer gets a link they can open on their phone and sign with one tap.

The whole process takes about 2 minutes from job site to signed proposal.

Not to try it. You can fill in the form and generate a free preview of your proposal without signing in.

To actually send the proposal, you pay $7 (one-time) or $49/month for unlimited. After payment, Stripe creates your account and we ask you to fill in your company profile (name, phone, license number) so your proposals look professional.

No passwords — we use a magic link emailed to you every time you want to sign back in.

  • Customer's full name
  • Job address
  • What you found on site and what needs to be done (the more specific, the better the proposal)
  • Your price — Option 1 required, Option 2 optional
  • Customer's email address (so they receive the link)

Tip: use the microphone button on the job details step to dictate your notes hands-free while you're still at the site.

Creating and Sending Proposals

The AI can only work with what you give it. A good scope of work includes:

  • Specific parts or areas affected ("south-facing slope," "condenser unit capacitor," "p-trap under kitchen sink")
  • What you found and what you'll do to fix it — not just "roof repair" but "3 missing shingles, 2 cracked, active leak at valley, will replace and reseal flashing"
  • Measurements or quantities where relevant

Aim for at least 80 characters in the scope. The character counter turns green when you're there. Vague input = vague proposal.

Yes. From your dashboard, click Edit on any pending proposal. You'll be taken back to the form with everything pre-filled. Make your changes, generate a new version, and click Save — the proposal link stays the same and your customer gets a fresh copy by email.

Note: once a customer has accepted a proposal, it's locked and can't be edited. If you need to change an accepted proposal, contact the customer directly.

Yes — it's called a template. From your dashboard, click Copy on any proposal. This opens the form with the job type, scope, and pricing pre-filled from the original. The customer fields are left blank so you fill in the new client's details. Great for repeat jobs like seasonal tune-ups or the same repair you do every week.

A few things to check:

  • Ask them to check their spam or promotions folder — emails from proposals@marketstrings.com occasionally end up there.
  • Confirm you entered the right email address. You can see it on your dashboard.
  • From your dashboard, copy the proposal link and send it directly via text message — this almost always works faster than email for homeowners.

The proposal link is permanent and doesn't expire, so they can open it any time.

Each proposal includes a "valid until" date set to 7 days from creation. This creates urgency and is stated in the proposal text. After 7 days the link still works — the valid-until date is just language in the document; it doesn't automatically expire the link.

Customer Acceptance & Signing

They open the link on any device, read the proposal, and tap Accept Proposal. A dialog asks them to type their name as an electronic signature. That's it — one tap, no login required.

You'll receive an email the moment they accept. Your dashboard also shows new acceptances with an unread badge so you never miss one.

Electronic signatures are recognized under the federal E-SIGN Act and most state laws. When a customer accepts, we record:

  • Their typed name
  • The exact timestamp
  • Their IP address
  • Their browser and device information
  • A unique reference ID for the proposal

This evidence is shown in the acceptance confirmation email sent to both you and your customer. For most residential contractor disputes this level of documentation is more than sufficient.

For high-value commercial work, consult an attorney about whether additional documentation (a wet signature, separate contract, etc.) is advisable.

Two ways:

  • Email — you'll get a "Proposal Accepted!" email with the customer's name, acceptance timestamp, and a link to view the signed proposal.
  • Dashboard badge — new acceptances appear with a green dot and unread count in the dashboard tab title. Click "Mark all as seen" to clear it.
Account & Billing

$7 per proposal — pay once, send one proposal. Good for trying it out or occasional use.

$49/month — unlimited proposals. If you send more than 7 proposals a month, this pays for itself. The subscription renews automatically each month and can be cancelled any time from your profile page.

Go to marketstrings.com/login.html, enter your email address, and we'll send you a magic link. Click the link in the email and you're in — no password needed.

Magic links expire after 15 minutes. If yours expires, just request a new one.

Sign in, go to your Profile, and click Cancel Subscription at the bottom of the page. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. You'll receive a confirmation email.

After cancelling you can still view and share existing proposals. You just won't be able to create new ones until you resubscribe or pay per proposal.

Sign in and go to your Profile. You can update your company name, phone number, license number, tagline, bio, and logo at any time. Changes apply to all future proposals — existing sent proposals are not updated.

Your bio is used word-for-word in the "Why Us" section of every proposal, so take a few minutes to make it good.

For per-proposal payments ($7): once the proposal has been created and delivered, we don't offer refunds. If you had a technical problem that prevented delivery, contact us and we'll make it right.

For monthly subscriptions ($49/month): we don't offer partial-month refunds, but you can cancel at any time and your access runs to the end of the paid period.

If you believe you were charged in error, email support@marketstrings.com within 30 days.

Technical

Yes — it's designed mobile-first. You can fill out the entire form, dictate your job notes with the microphone button, and send proposals from your phone on the job site.

On iPhone, you can also add MarketStrings to your home screen for instant access: tap the Share button in Safari, then "Add to Home Screen."

Any modern browser works: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge. We recommend keeping your browser up to date.

The voice dictation feature uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. It works best in Chrome and Safari on recent versions.

Yes, two ways:

  • Open any proposal and click Save as PDF — this triggers your browser's print dialog where you can save as PDF.
  • From your dashboard, click Download All Accepted to get a combined PDF of all signed proposals — useful for your records at end of season.
